250 gr. unsalted butter, cut into pieces, at room temperature
400 gr. sugar
6 eggs
zest of 2 large lemons
460 gr. flour for all uses
2 teaspoons baking powder
300 gr. yoghurt
For the syrup:
250 gr. sugar
160 ml of water
320 ml orange juice
1. We will need a round cake pan with a diameter of 28 cm.
2. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. In the mixer bucket, add the butter, the sugar, the eggs, the lemon zest, the flour, the baking powder and the yogurt. Beat until the mixture is well combined, for 2-3 minutes. Put the mixture into the pan and bake for 1 hour, or until the cake is golden brown.
3. Make the syrup, puting all its ingredients into a small saucepan. Let the mixture boil for 1-2 minutes and remove the pot from the heat.
4. Cut the hot cake into portions, sprinkle it with the hot syrup. Let the cake absorb the syrup well. Leave it to cool and serve it with vanilla ice cream, if you want.
