Commemorating the 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the Municipality of Thessaloniki organized a two-day event with "Tastes of Memory" in the courtyard of the City Hall.
"We were delighted to be the exclusive sponsor of cooking utensils and tools for the wonderful event "Tastes of Memory" 100 Years of Memory of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. With our utensils, the most famous Greek chefs and the Mayor of Thessaloniki cooked unique Asia Minor recipes for the old to remember and the young to learn! A unique two-day tasting, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor catastrophe. We are honored that NAVA was an active part of such a remarkable organization and we thank the responsibles for all the love they put into this event."
Old people remembered, young people learned, cooked, tasted great dishes from well-known Greek chefs and of course danced at the open-air celebration of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. An unforgettable experience for everyone in the audience.
A large crowd attended the open air area of Thessaloniki City Hall to honour the event dedicated to Asia Minor cuisine. All proceeds from the tasting went to a Greek non-profit association dedicated to children located in Filiro.
Many big names from the culinary world honored the event with their presence, such as Eleni Psychouli who presented with great emotion and in a unique way the recipes of all the cultural associations, stealing the heart of the audience.
Alongside them was the beloved Argyro Barbarigou who delighted the audience by cooking typical recipes from the Asia Minor such as "Brorani", "Çılbır Eggs" and "Hünkar beğendi".
Of course, the adored Maria Ekmektsioglou, known as a Polite cook, was also present, who wowed the crowd with her recipes of Antiochian kanafeh pastry, greek meatballs/soutzoukakia with pilaf and hünkar beğendi and cooked accompanied by the Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas!
