Why Cook with Stainless Steel?

nava

Stainless steel has become one of the most popular materials for cookware worldwide, and for good reason. Its use is not limited to professional kitchens but is also extremely popular in home kitchens. Especially in Greek cuisine, where the quality of cookware plays a crucial role in performance and flavor, stainless steel offers many significant advantages.

1. Durability and Longevity

Stainless steel is known for its durability. It does not rust, stain, or absorb odors, making it ideal for preparing a variety of dishes. Whether you're cooking dishes with strong aromas like stifado or giouvetsi, or simply boiling water, stainless steel maintains its quality over time.

2. Hygiene and Safety

One of the main advantages of stainless steel is hygiene. This material does not react with food, even if it's acidic or salty. This means there is no risk of unwanted chemicals or metals leaching into your food. Additionally, stainless steel is easy to clean as it can be placed in the dishwasher, ensuring complete removal of bacteria.

3. Even Heat Distribution

Heat distribution is extremely important in cooking, and stainless steel excels in this area. Stainless steel cookware usually has a multi-layered base, including aluminum or copper, ensuring even heat distribution. This means your food cooks evenly without burnt or undercooked spots.

4. Elegance and Style

Stainless steel gives a sleek and modern look to your kitchen. Its shiny, clean surface remains impressive even after years of use. Furthermore, it matches any kitchen décor, whether traditional or contemporary.

5. Ease of Use

Finally, stainless steel cookware is lightweight and easy to use. The handles are usually ergonomically designed to provide comfort and safety during cooking. Additionally, they are suitable for use on all types of stovetops, including induction.

Cast iron vs non-stick pan? Why should you prefer a pan that combines both!

"Atlas" cast iron cookware is made of cast iron and has stainless steel handles. They are intended for use in professional kitchens (restaurants or hotels) but also in domestic kitchens of all types, while at the same time they are also suitable for use directly in the oven. Its special cellular surface gives it long-term resistance to daily use and high abrasion resistance. The additional coating ensures anti-corrosion protection of the surface and at the same time enhances the non-stick property of the utensil.

How to take care of your Cast Iron Cookware:

-Before the first use wash the pan with soapy warm water and soft sponge.

-Coat the inside surface of the pan with oil or butter before each use.

-Do not overheat the pan when it is empty. Cast iron cookware can reach high temperature in short time, it is recommended to lower the intensity of the fire in order to prevent excessive heating.

-Low or medium heat is sufficient for obtaining the best cooking results.

-Do not overheat the fat or oil on the point of smoking, burning or turning black.

-Use any kind of utensils you prefer, even metal, however the cast iron cookware and the nonstick surface can remain like new for a longer period by using wooden, plastic or silicone kitchen utensils.

-Do not throw cold water or other cold liquids in a hot cast iron pan, because the sudden change of temperature may crack the pan.

-Do not soak the pan in water. For longer life, prefer to leave the pan to cool first and then wash it with soapy warm water and soft sponge. Dry it thoroughly and store it in a dry place. Hand-wash is recommended to extend the life of the pan and of the nonstick coating.

-Do not use wire or harsh cleaners.

-The non-stick coating is in compliance with the food contact regulations.

-Be careful while using acidic or alkaline substances in the cast iron utensil. Coat the pan well with oil before cooking with acidic foods and do not leave acidic foods in the utensil for long time. Avoid adding wine to the pan.

Cooking with stainless steel offers many benefits that make the cooking process more enjoyable and efficient. From durability and hygiene to even heat distribution and elegant appearance, stainless steel is the ideal choice for any kitchen. If you haven't yet invested in stainless steel cookware, it might be time to consider it seriously.
